EXODUS . . .

In the strongholds of domination we found ourselves
A state administered with the ignorance of its populace
Hence our Jailers relished in their unchallenged conquests
Regretfully, their stronghold was indeed our Freehold

And we asked: “how come we about these irons and locks?”
And we were told that friendship brought us cuffs
Of a truth; trade with unequal bargains
…an opportunity our guests never allowed pass without gates of brass

Disparate questions we asked, same answer we got
But our questions birthed us a Purpose
This Purpose we pursued, even as the Moses’ came of age
Drawing strength from a three-fold cord, with multiple strands, that was not to be broken

From the strongholds of oppression we were called forth
Our victory gave us a reason to be called one
..and so our task we think was accomplished
And hence Purpose no longer binds us; so we think

But look! Pharaoh’s army come pursuing with whips of lack
Alas! Our Unity indeed remains unripe for severance
Wherein we must draw strength from the Group Mind
…and combat this challenge of survival that assaults our subsistence
